I think that we are very ignorant when it comes to heart health. Cancers used to be the mean killers, now it seems to me that heart diseases replaced them. To make matters worse, studies show that one in five people are incapable of determining the importance of having a healthy heart. Lynn Young from the Royal College of Nursing says that even coronary heart disease patients still have a second chance. So we always have chance! But to stay healthy, it's important to check our cholesterol levels; glucose levels and blood pressure regularly. When it comes to heart health, studies show that women are more vulnerable to cardiovascular diseases. More than 2 million women die out of these diseases every year (in the US alone). To have a healthy heart, exercise only as much as you can; practice meditation and try to find the stress objects in your life. Substance abuse and junk foods must be avoided at any costs. Whatever we do to our body; however we try to cover it, it's bound to take its toll on our heart. There is no one to help you there. Avoid unhealthy fats, maintain the right weight and enjoy your life. Understand that diet plays an even more important role than physical exercise. Oh, and one more thing; recent researches suggest that even those under the age of 45 are also at risk of having heart attacks and strokes. Plus, find out whether your family has got a history of lifestyle diseases; because genetics is something that can trigger these diseases. This is why we have to eat right; do right workouts; and get the rest our body deserves.
