In one word, no! Fats are good. Haven't you ever heard that "too much of anything is good for nothing." The same thing happens with fat too. Fats are a vital source of energy. They can be burned for energy, if your body is trained to do so. The fact is that there is no diet without them.

You think that a crash diet of 'non fat' diet are going to help you. This is just a myth. Extra calories from protein and even carbs will be converted to fat, if you do not train your body to burn them. What we need is a controlled fat consumption that can be burned to fuel your body.

Do not think that fat consumption has got nothing to do with weight loss. Thats not what I meant. If you want to burn your fat for fuel, you must consider eating a balanced diet which contains carbs, proteins and fats. If you do not eat excessive fats, your body will burn it.

In other words, your body does not mind whether its stored fat or fat that you just ate recently. Also, once your glycogen reserves are consumed, the body relies on fat for energy. Moderate consumption of fats can reduce calorie intake and get you full faster.

There are good fats like coconut oil, olive oil, nuts and avocados that are diet essentials. Stay away from bad fats like junk food and packaged food. The bottom-line is that fats are good if you eat them properly.
