Holistic health is not new to us. We know it in different names; some call it alternative medicine and others call it an extended version of Ayurveda (a system of traditional Indian medicine). But both the West and the East are considering it as a new approach to health and fitness-that focuses not only on an individual's physical well being; but the psychological and spiritual well being as well. Despite the debate that's going around for years about this approach and how it combines diverse methodologies and individualizing the patient, we have grown quite fond of this approach. Why? For one thing, Western medicine is more or less universal to all normal people. For instance, different cancer patients are given the same medicine to reduce the identical symptoms; whereas holistic treatment takes it to a whole new level. Like the name suggests, it individualizes the treatment and treats each person uniquely; it treats the person as a whole, it promotes self-healing and truly understands the spiritual nature of each person. This approach centers around the concept that each individual has different physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs; and that the overall treatment would be more effective if we balancing these individual needs and guide the healing process through proper medicine and lifestyle changes. The conventional approach doesn't go this deeper. Over the last two decades, even multinational companies have changed their attitude about this approach. Still, because most people confuse Ayurveda with holistic health, it's very rare to find true practitioners of this approach. True practitioners of holistic health combines many diverse methodologies and treatments from around the world. It's one of the reasons why this approach is vulnerable to scams!
