Yes, there are not sure-shot ways to prevent Alzheimer's disease. But studies show that half of all Alzheimer's cases could be prevented through healthy lifestyle changes such as exercise, diet; and getting rid of lifestyle disorders such as smoking and drug abuse. Scientists say that lack of exercise, lifestyle disorders and obesity contribute to the growth of this disease. Which is why it's best to remember that a healthy lifestyle can go a long way in preventing this disease. So what can we do to get a brain-healthy lifestyle? Here goes:
"Regular exercise, healthy diet, nutrition, enough rest, managing your stress levels, a good social life, lots of creative activities such as writing; and lastly, protecting one's head as studies show that head trauma might increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease. These lifestyle changes are sure to reduce one's risk of developing Alzheimer's disease as well as many other degenerative diseases."
First off, a great diet includes leafy green vegetables, fish, olive oil, plenty of nuts and whole grains. This means that you have to avoid transfats present in red meat, fast foods and packaged stuff. Evidence points out that omega-3 fatty acids and cold-water fish such as tuna and mackerel help prevent Alzheimer's disease. As for exercise, 30 minutes of moderate-intense exercise and aerobic activities will do just fine.

Rest is another issue. Going to bed at the same time makes a natural rhythm and our brain responds to this regularity. Napping can be very lame, but studies show that naps can reduce stress and increase concentration. So, a healthy lifestyle can really cut down the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. All we have to do is just decide whether we want to spend the rest of our lives happily; or being haunted by some dreaded degenerative diseases.
