Liposuction is the most popular plastic surgery there is. Most obese people who wants to go for fat removal via surgical procedures go for liposuction. The problem with this procedure is that the fat comes back after sometime. Within a year to be exact.

A study showed that this fat that comes back will be redistributed to other areas like abdomen, shoulders and triceps. This shows that we cannot go for liposuction after all.

This is because our body has got mechanisms to tighten and control the fat distribution that we still do not know. And without knowing that, these procedures are useless. Data collected from animal models support the theory that the fat removed will come back eventually.

Our brain knows how much fat is on board and responds in a manner to regulate that weight. Preventing obesity, exercising are, by far, the only ways to get rid of this problem.

The study was a difficult one because of the expensive scans to measure the exact amount of fat. And we must not be surprised that the fat came back. There is no shortcut or quick remedies to stop obesity from spreading.

The University of Colorado was one of a handful of institutions that can afford to facilitate these type of highly controlled studies.

There is a simple fact that we forget. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. Many take this to change their shape. And even if the fat comes back, the cosmetic shape benefits lasts.
